45 - Becca

Friederich laughed that echoed through the kitchen, and gave me goosebumps. I almost never saw him laughing, it was always new when it happened. That day, I couldn’t help but smile in response. He looked so different. I didn't know if the fact that I always saw him as a master and sovereign to anything had affected me so absurdly that I couldn't see him in his true form.

" Why are you looking at me that way, Becca? "He asked, with pure curiosity in his tone of voice.

"Because you are too kind, Fred," I replied on impulse. "And I think it took me too long to realize that.”

For a quick moment, Fred watched me as if he were going to give me another long and breathtaking kiss, but then he sniffed the air and made a face towards the pan on my back.

"Are you having a barbecue, Miss Smith?”

Fuck. I forgot about the eggs. I turned around and turned off the fire. In fact, I had already burned much of my culinary project. Fred had the common sense of not laughing, even so, I was upset.
