Chapter 4 - Adopting to the Family

The people at the end of the phone call went silent for a moment before a howling voice sounded.

"Oh huhu... Our baby girl is mad at us. She won't call us her family anymore, so heartbroken. We really should tie Noah up and beat him up to death."

The owling was so loud that not only Cameron twitched her lips but also Noah and the secretary twitched the corner of their eyes as they listened to these childish words.

It gets even worse than that when the grandpa, who was so majestic earlier, also sobbed as he acted childishly towards Cameron.

"Cameron, our dear granddaughter, don't be angry at us. Be angry only to that fool idiotic grandson of mine. No, he will not be my grandson anymore. I will abandon him and remove him from our family genealogy! How's does it sound if we adopt you to our family? Don't worry about compensation or anything our dear granddaughter, you will inherit the mansion that is intended for Noah and the 20% share of the Everest Company, you will be the princess that our family hold in their palm, how's that sound?" the people at the other side of the phone, the little brothers, the uncles, the little cousins and every in laws that is present at the other side of the phone all echoed their agreement to what the patriarch had said.

20%. Even if she gone broke for a while, the dividends of the 20% share coming from the Everest Company will let her live her life to the fullest even after the divorce was processed and done.

But Cameron, Noah, and the secretary, coupled with Aubrey, who had wide eyes, were silent after hearing the words of the patriarch of the Everest family. The words seemed to be so awkward for some ordinary people to hear.

The world of rich people really is full of wonder.

The secretary was silent.

"...."Noah was also silent for a moment after hearing what his grandpa said, but then he reacted after hearing that the shares would be given to Cameron, the woman who will soon be an outsider in their family.

He could give a lot of billions to this woman as a one-time payment in compensation, but never the shares that only true families should possess.

"Grandpa, you're too old already. Why are you giving shares to an outsider?" Noah coldly said, his normal voice when talking to his grandpa already lost.

He should, by all means, protect the shares from the Everest company, they should not fall into any hands other than the people who were carrying the Everest surname.

But the patriarch seemed to not think about what Noah said, even humphing at the tone that was used by this ungrateful bastard towards him.

"Whether I give a share to Cameron or not is not up to you. The Everest company is not yours but mine, young man. It seemed you are already too old for you to even forget such a crucial thing! You can't be saved anymore, you are turned into a confused fool by that scheming bitch so I am depriving you your rights of having to inherit anything from the main house, including the Everest Company, let your cousins handle it, they will do better than you. You will also be remove from the family genealogy of Everest family, so you really can't meddle with our affairs anymore from now on and in the future. And oh, if you planned on wanting to change your surname, feel free to tell us. We will celebrate for it" the patriarch harrumphed as he once again scolded Noah severely and said some harsh words that people with weak mind will surely cry for.

It's a pity that Noah did not have a weak mind, his personality was even on par with the patriarch so after listening to his grandfather harsh words speechlessly, Noah's forehead twitched as he stopped the secretary from having to type what the old man said earlier in the compensation page.

Noah gritted his teeth, saying forcefully, "Grandpa! Aubrey is not a scheming bitch, and whether you like it or not, she will soon be my wife and the mother of my child, so please treat her better from now on. I will not take your words of wanting me to be removed on the family genealogy seriously, but please, there will be no next time" Aubrey put on a touching expression, but she was thinking of hundreds of ways to kill the Everest family when she finally married to the door.

She suffered too much humiliation in just one day when Noah would finally divorce his wife.

She should have really not tagged along with Noah so she wouldn't experience such a thing and be embarrassed on the spot in front of Cameron, the soon-to-be ex-wife, who should be the one to be embarrassed in front of her.

Cameron did not mind the hateful expression on Aubrey's face when Noah did not look at her anymore, but she very much minded the fact that Noah was very capable of protecting his beloved.

Since even though she is his wife, she never experienced being protected like that, but as the saying goes, she was only a wife, not a beloved, while the woman in front of her, standing behind Noah with an ugly face, constantly changing her personality like a fake person, was the true beloved and was about to become the wife of Noah legally after divorcing her.

After a moment of pain flashed inside her eyes uncontrollably once again, it disappeared without a trace as the phone was once again handed over to Cameron by Noah, who was already so angry to the point that a slight push would make him explode on the spot.

Cameron blinked slightly as she put the speaker on full volume, letting everyone finally hear the words clearly from the other side of the phone, unlike earlier, when they needed to rely on the loud voice of the people at the other end of the phone so they could hear what everyone was saying.

Aubrey and the secretary ears pricked up to listen to the patriarch response to Noah words earlier that was full of rage, so while Noah looked at Cameron, who was so calm from the start with furrowed brows, the patriarch words made not only Noah but Aubrey too, infuriated, while the secretary propped his hands on his laptop but was so excitedly listening to this excitement unfold.

The subject involved only had a plain reaction, so the secretary can't fully display what it meant to feel excitement.

"Grandpa, it's not that appropriate if you formally adopt me into the family. I was once your grandson's wife, it's very inappropriate if you adopt me to your family now" Cameron softly began.

The patriarch voice was replaced by Noah's mother irritated voice, "Who cares about that stinky boy? We remove him from our family genealogy so you won't feel it's inappropriate. Who needs him? We only need you. We don't care if he starved to death outside with his little mistress, he got the money to support himself and that fox anyway--There is no way that he will let himself starved to death so removing him from the family genealogy won't make that much of a difference.... So, what do you think about our offer of adopting you to the family?" Mrs. Everest said a lot of words, discrediting her son from time to time by saying harsh words. Noah's face turned black and blue after hearing that they were really serious about removing him from their family genealogy. It really seemed that Cameron effect on them was too great.

He stared at Cameron with flaming eyes after hearing his mother's last question full of expectation.

Cameron, under the hot gaze of Noah, slowly uttered her response, "I'm sorry but no."
