Chapter 56

Jane took a brief respite before noticing the sudden increase in sound on set. When she opened her eyes, Damien was right in front of her. She rubbed her eyes, wondering if she was dreaming.

Hannah exclaimed, "Damien is here."

Jane glanced at Hannah and then at the door where Damien stood, dressed in a white shirt and suit pants, his handsome face impassive. This was how he always appeared - high above and invincible. But why was he suddenly on set?

Damien's gaze swept across the set, and when he saw Jane, he quickly averted his eyes. Ciara offered him a bottle of water, but he didn't even acknowledge her. Duke explained, "Mr. Damien only drinks water from the Alps."

Ciara forced a smile, "I should have known better."

Jane's expression darkened as she watched Ciara's fawning behavior. Was Damien here to see her? But he had said it didn't matter last time. No, he must have come to see her, she thought.

Director Artus announced, "It's time to start," and Jane immediately got up to go on
