Chapter 53

His car came to a halt in the bustling drop-off zone, and he stepped out into the chaotic whirlwind of travelers and luggage. D'Andre had just arrived at the airport, his mind preoccupied with thoughts of Maiari and their daughter, like an old habit. He remembered the time where he was dying to find them here.

As he made his way through the crowd, his heart heavy with the weight of the past four years, he suddenly collided with a young girl. She couldn't have been more than four or five years old, and tears streamed down her cheeks, leaving glistening trails on her face.

"Hey there, are you okay?" D'Andre asked, concern immediately replacing his own troubles. His voice was gentle as he crouched down to her eye level.

The little girl sniffled and nodded, her big, watery eyes still filled with distress. "I can't find my mommy," she said, her voice trembling.
