37. Almost Always

Richard's POV

"So, Mr. Richard ...." Shawn was just about to say something when suddenly a knock sounded on the door.

Shawn and I looked at each other. I signaled him to keep quiet.

"Please come in," I said to whoever knocked on the door. The door opened, and Jeremy appeared with several files in his hand.

Jeremy didn't notice that there was someone other than me there. Jeremy's gaze was entirely on the documents in his hand.

"Mr. Richard, can you handle these documents? Oh, sorry. I didn't know you had company," Jeremy looked guilty. I shook my head.

"It's okay. It just so happens that our business is over." I glanced at Shawn. Shawn quickly responded, understanding that this was not the right situation for him to report something.

He nodded briefly at me, and Jeremy then got up and walked out of my room. I looked back at Jeremy with the file in his hand.
