Chapter 58

A gentle ocean wind brushed over Anna's skin and tangled her hair as she relaxed on the tranquil beach.

The sea was a rich blue color, and although it was flat out at a distance, it crested as it got closer to the coast, creating a foamy mess on the compacted beach.

She was enchanted by an eerie sense of uncertainty... with a hint of sadness. Here, she felt secure and safe.

The previous 10 days had been picture-perfect: spent leisurely in the sunshine with easy company, spent long evenings under the moonlight, and loved tenderly.

They were scheduled to go back to Los Angeles tomorrow. Her physiotherapy sessions were scheduled to start next week, and she also had appointments with the neurologist and obstetrician. Little time passed before David would hop in his car and head into the city, where he would spend the better part of each day in his office atop one of the many stunning inner-city modern structures in Los Angeles.

It reminded her that she was in the same building as well. It
