Jade's POV

It's been weeks since our kiss, our relationship hadn't progressed one bit, well physically at least, but we've been talking, we go on runs/ jogs every morning before school, we'd go out sometimes, only if my brother was there, we watched movies together and it was fun because we always had different opinions on everything and would argue all the time but in a playful kind of way.

"What are you so lost in thought about?" A voice came from behind me. I turned to see my Adam's new girlfriend, I had learned her name the last few weeks , Eva.

The girls behind her giggled, "Maybe it's her boyfriend." one of the girls said.

I sighed, "He's not my boyfriend." I said.

"So we can have him?" Eva asked.

"He's not an object and I'm pretty sure that you had a boyfriend like a week ago," I paused, "or is it that time to switch between guys."

"You can have Adam," she said in a spiteful tone, "ever since he saw you guys kiss that day, he's been talking about you non-stop."

"Ah... gotcha." I nodded, "Well you can't have hi-" what happened can't happen again. I felt a pang in my chest, "Actually, I'll ask him if he'd be willing."

*lunch*

I normally sit alone during lunch but today some girl that I'd never seen around school before walked up to the table and sat across from me. I opened my mouth to protest but she talked before me, "I know you and that Blake dude aren't really dating." she said and stabbed a fork in her plate of kale salad.

I was shocked at first but she was right, "Tell me something I don't know." I said and took a bite of my pizza, "but how do you know?" I asked in between chews.

She looked up at me and smiled, "Remember that party? Yeah, I was in the bathroom, I heard all what you guys said about putting on a show."

My face heated up at the memory, I didn't need to look down at my plate to figure out that I was blushing, "So, what do you want? His number?"

"No." she said and went back to eating.

It was awkward sitting alone with her in silence, anticipating when she'd talk, but she never did and it was starting to get to me, "What do you want? Why are you sitting here? With me? Shouldn't you be over there?" I pointed at the table in the cafeteria where all the football players and cheerleaders sat, "the popular table" such a fucking cliche.

"Wow," she gasped, "have you never had a friend?" she teased.

"You're not my friend- we're not friends." I corrected, "I don't even know your name."

"Fine then," she dropped her fork and extended her arm to me, blocking me from taking another bite of my pizza, "I'm Celeste."

I knew what she was doing, this friend thing was all a ruse, I've had a bunch of other girls come to me asking to be my friend then going ahead, without my say, to plan a sleepover at my house like I wasn't even there, "Look, if you're trying to be friends with me to get with Blake, you can just come out and say that."

She exploded into an hysterical laughter and I couldn't help but stare, she's really weird, "I could do that," she raised her pointer finger to wipe a tear from her eye, "but my girlfriend wouldn't like that too much."

Just then, a girl, much taller than me appeared next to her, she had short hair, styled in a short side comb, and she was wearing a black tank top and jeans that rode around her hips, honestly, she was dressed like a guy and she looked hot too.

"She's the one that you wanted to sit with?" she asked in a grumpy tone.

"Yes babe," she grabbed her hand and pulled her down into the chair.

"This is Carl."

"Carl?" I blurted out, unable to hold back my shock.

"Carly really but she likes to be called Carl." Celeste commented.

"You got a problem with that?" she asked with the same grumpy tone as before.

"No I was just surprised," I extended an arm, "nice to meet you." I smiled.

She nodded, acknowledging my greeting but she didn't take my hand.

"If you don't mind my asking-"

"I mind." she interrupted, sensing that my question might be offensive or just that she didn't  want to answer my question.

We sat and ate the rest of our lunches in an awkward silence, I could tell we all wanted someone to say something but none of us were bold or comfortable enough to break the silence.

**

When I got home from school, the house was unusually quiet. I walked into the kitchen to see two yellow sticky notes, on the fridge. One had my mum's handwriting, I won't be back home till morning. The other was in the ugly handwriting of my brother, Going out drinking.

Great, I have the house to myself for a few hours, what to do, what to do.

I dropped my bag on the kitchen counter and ran upstairs. I flopped on my bed the moment I got into my room and fluffed my pillow around to get comfortable before drifting off to sleep.

I woke at 2 am to the sound of clattering downstairs, I rubbed the fatigue from my eyes as I walked the door where I hung my bathrobe, then put it on before making my way downstairs.

"Shh..." I heard someone say, it sounded like a woman's voice, "I think I heard something."

"It's no one." another voice said, this time, the voice of a man, "it's just creaky stairs."

I assumed it was Jonathan bringing home his one-night stand and decided to go back upstairs, the last thing I wanted to see was my brother mouth fucking someone before they proceeded to the bedroom.

"Let's do it here." I heard the woman suggest followed by low moan.

My blood boiled at the sound, if he wants to have sex, can they kindly do it in his room and not the living room where everyone sits and I eat. I tiptoed to the light switch and flipped it on, "Take it to your ro-" I stopped as my eyes fell to meet Blake's and the woman who was currently under him, her shirt almost completely over her head, "Blake?"
