44 - Ruin's Worry

Ruin

I watch Chloe Jane as she lays in my arms fast asleep. She’s had so much to deal with these past few days since we’ve been back, so whenever possible, I let her sleep in. Her powers have grown as well, and I don’t want to admit it to her, but they’ve grown exponentially.

She’s exhausted because her body gets no rest; after she falls asleep, she immediately becomes The Spinner. Hours upon hours, she sits up spinning fates and only once the first slivers of sunlight peeks through the window, does she rest.

Nothing on this planet could scare me before I met her. Now I stay up worrying about her wellbeing and state of mind. She’s been thrown into the deep end, forced to come to terms with what she is in a short amount of time.

I blame myself at times, since my mark seems to have been the catalyst in all this. If I had known what I know now, I would have waited and allowed her to adjust. But I suppose there’s no point in lamenting on what could have been.
