An attempt to burn the house

“Is she going on a date?” Nikki hastened down the stairs.

“Yes.” I took the remote from the table and switched the TV on.

“Oh, my God!” She squealed. “I missed this,” she plopped down on the couch I'm sitting on, with a mischievous smile on her face.

“Why don't you go on another date then?” I choose one of the airing series and relaxed on the couch.

“Who will make dinner if I do?”

“Dinner? Are you making dinner?” I gasped. “So, you can cook?” I gave her a look that showed how much I believed her words.

“Of course, I can.” She stood up from the couch with a smile. “Relax and watch your series. It's time to show you guys what I'm made of.” She left me in the parlour and strode towards the kitchen.

I sat on the couch until I heard the water running in the kitchen. I didn't switch the TV off so as not to alert her of my absence.

With Star gone, and Nikki engrossed in the kitchen, I can be able to check on Miguel's room without being caught.

I sneakily hastened towards the stairs.
