Episode 36

David brought Cara back to his house and gently placed her on the bed. Concerned for her well-being, he adjusted the air conditioning to ensure a comfortable temperature. As he observed her lying there, trapped in that stifling room with no means of escape, his heart shattered into pieces.

"Why would someone do this to her?" David wondered aloud, his voice filled with anguish.

"If they wanted to target me, they should have come after me, not the woman I love." The thought of Cara being in danger because of him overwhelmed him with fear. He sat down on the edge of the bed, watching her sleep peacefully, and felt a wave of relief wash over him knowing she was safe, at least for now.

Whispering softly,

"I'm so sorry," his voice laden with guilt. He reached out, tenderly held her hand, and pressed a gentle kiss on her fingers.

"Good night," he murmured, then settled down on the couch next to her, determined to keep a watchful eye throughout the night.

In the middle of the night, Cara's
