Chapter 96

There was silence on the other end of the line so I thought she'd hung up but her voice came up again,

"What do you want?" She bit out irritatingly and I suppressed a low sigh,

I switched the phone to my other ear, balancing firmly against the wall, "I called to warn you, everyone is in danger."

She scoffed and I heard some shuffling before she responded again, "So they found out your secret after all? What did they say the punishment is; beheading? Banishment? or lancing by silver?"

"That's not what I'm talking about, Dahlia," I huffed in aggravation and she scoffed again,

"You do not get to use that tone on me," She yelled, taking me by surprise and continued but in a much softer voice, "You were the one who abandoned the family-"

"I was never part of the family, was I?" I cut in brusquely, my temper slowly flaring. "You act as if you all didn't push me here to be the sacrificial lamb. You never cared about me, not once."
