Chapter 139

A meaningful smile crossed Chris' lips as he stared at Kathryn's back while she left hastily.

"Did she think that everyone's obsessed with money like her?" Chris thought.

When Kathryn arrived at the emergency room, Matthew was pacing back and forth worriedly outside. Kathryn stepped forward and called him.

Matthew nodded. "You're here."

Kathryn wanted to say something but didn't know what to say. None of them were present when tonight's incident happened. She only knew the knife was in Jessica's hand when she left. She guessed it might be that Jessica tried to defend her, and things eventually went out of control.

After some time had passed, the doctor emerged from the emergency room. Matthew approached him as the doctor removed his mask and asked, "Sir, what's my wife's condition?"

Matthew was no doubt anxious. Kathryn had always believed both Matthew and Karen were cold and indifferent. But when Jessica was brought into the ambulance that night, she realized that some people
