Thirty-nine

Emma waited in the lobby of the building for five minutes and once she saw Mila, she let out a sigh of relief. She handed her her phone silently and they both walked to the elevator.

The two girls walked inside the apartment and suddenly, Mila was not at ease. She did not want to go inside, she did not want to spend the night there. She was only doing that for Emma, the girl who broke her into a million pieces, yet she could not understand why she was helping her.

"C-come i-in," Emma whispered when she saw Mila still standing by the door. Mila let out a heavy sigh and walked inside, taking a seat on the couch. "W-want me to m-make you something t-to eat?"

"Thanks, I'm good," Mila mumbled without looking at Emma.

"Should I g-get you clothes? It's not c-comfortable to s-sleep in those clothes," Emma spoke, looking at her. She wanted Mila to acknowledge her. She wanted to make her feel comfortable in any way.

"No, I'm fine like that," Mila replie
