CRYSTINA’S POV I was in my room on Friday night, trying to pack some of my clothes so I could get move my thugs to Luka’s apartment in the packhouse. It must have been empty for a while because Miss Mary told me she sent some cleaners to get the place ready today. Since the last confrontation I had with Luka, I haven’t seen him. CRYSTINA’S POV My eyes went wide at the sudden and tragic news. My heart went out to Grace and I wondered how she must have been coping with the news. I wanted to ask what happened to him but knowing Luka well, I sealed my lips. It was better to not as him and trigger one of his childish jealous traits again. “Won’t you ask me what happened to him?” I moved away from his hold and resumed what I was doing. I wasn’t ready to start another round of arguments over someone that I barely had two conversations with. “Do I have the right to ask that?” He shrugged. “Weren’t you anxious to see him the other day? LUKA’S POV Instantly, I started laughing and removed his mask. “What the hell Luka?” She yelled“I hate it when you sneak up on me like that,” I raised an eyebrow as I stared at her. It wasn’t my fault that she couldn’t recognize my scent immediately after I walked in, it was her fault for shutting her wolf out and breaking our mind link. I’d noticed the connection had been broken since the day I went to see her at the school but I decided against asking her about it because I didn’t want to scare her. “Apologies for that, your grace. CRYSTINA’S POV It’s been two weeks since I moved into the packhouse and those two weeks have been the most silent of my life. I couldn’t say peacefully because my wolf was restless and I wanted to block her back but decided against it. It wasn’t supposed to be normal, blocking my wolf twice in a few months might make me lose connection with her totally. These past two weeks, I’d been staying at the apartment with Luka. He had insisted on sleeping on the couch instead of the bed. I didn’t bother to invite him to bed for the first few days but when I couldn’t take it anymore, I asked him why he was punishing himself. He said it wasn’t a punishment. He told me he knew I hated him and he would only touch me or come to me if I asked him to. I groaned as I remember his words again. LUKA’S POV “Draenei,” I repeated the name over and over again. I know I’ve heard that name somewhere but I just can’t wrap my head around where I’d heard it before. I’d given Baba and my Gamma the assignment to keep interrogating Harry and see if he’ll say anything else but under no circumstances should he be released from jail. I want to see if the person who sent him on this job would care enough to penetrate into my pack and rescue the kid. I’ll be ready if that did happen. “Any finding?” I asked Baba as he walked into the office. “Nothing,” He shook his head. “You?” “He’s not an Alpha. CRYSTINA’S POVThe full moon was the talk of the town. Almost everyone in the pack talked about it at every opportunity they could get. It rarely happened these days, the last time they witnessed a full moon was two years ago. From stories that I heard as a child, the full moon does happen once in a month or once in two months but these days, climate change has also affected it and the wolf’s full moon became a once in two years occurrence. Even the students were released from school to return home early as it was possible for some of the wolves to go rabid or mateless wolves to attack each other and nobody wants their kids to witness that. “How bad is it?” I asked Paige. LUKA’S POV “How do you feel?” I asked Crystina as I placed my lips on her temple and caress her face. My palm was large enough to hold her small face. I smiled at her and she smiled back. It was morning already, the moment I’d dreaded the most and I hope she doesn’t hate me for what happened last night. Last night, after I realized she was already asleep in the kitchen, I picked her up to bed so she could sleep better while I went out of the room. I was on the balcony when the full moon appeared in the sky and the first thing I felt was a sudden cold air against my skin before a tingling sound resonated in my ear. My entire body was as if it was on fire and I closed my eyes to control my mind. The first thing that appeared to me was my mate, Crystina and at the thoughts of her, I stood up from the balcony to check on her. CRYSTINA’S POV Luka hadn’t said a word to me since the day after the full moon. It has been awkward and unusual to be in the same space as him and not argue or talk with him. He would come home late at night after I’m asleep and leave very early in the morning before I woke up. I know he was angry about what happened but it was all a misunderstanding. Yes, he was right that I was disappointed about marking him. I’d never planned on laying claim on Luka in the heat of the moment like that. All my life, I’ve thought about marking my mate after I heard female wolves could mark their mates as well. I’d always thought of laying my claim on someone that I love but with Luka, that thought never occurred to me. It was never in my plan to mark Luka because I don’t love him. That marking was the only thing that I had left after everything was taken away from me. It was the disappointment that made me cry and not the fact that it was Luka that got my mark.
