Felix's Story 9
Oyin and Efe looked at her Jomi in amazement “You really went crazy” Efe said as she placed her hands under her head and laid on her bed.
“Why have you been staring at your phone since anyways? Are you scared of calling him after confessing? Don’t tell me you are embarrassed” Efe said and Jomi pursed her lips.
“Abeg, free me nah. Wetin?” Jomi asked and Oyin burst into laughter as Jomi adjusted herself on her bed.
She picked up her phone and counted randomly in her mind before pressing call and putting her IPhone near her ear. Her heartbeat started beating wildly and both relief and excitement coursed through her when the phone started ringing. And at the third ring, a familiar sensuous voice flowed into her ears.
“Hello”
Felix stretched his legs on the bed as he answered the call. He snickered as he continued talking.

Kola and Paul seemed to notice the both of them at the same time and Jomi quickly greeted them both with a small smile as she turned to Felix.“Don’t forget to take your drugs once you get home” Jomi said as she pursed her lips.“Goodnight” she added as she turned to go when Felix grabbed her and pulled her back.“Where are you going? For almost a week, Kola made Felix stay at the hospital. He soon got popular with the nurses and doctors as the gang came every day to see Felix. Felix adjusted himself on the bed as he played a game on his phone.And for a week, he had not heard anything from Jomi. Not a phone call, not a text message nor a message on social media. It was as if, they were never friends in the first place. And just like Stephen had said, he got more disappointed every day.There were times he wanted to dial her number or send her a text message but in the end he did neither of the two. To say he was anxious who he an understatement. Felix had admitted to himself that he did expect her call and when she didn’t call, he got disappointed and at first, he was unhappy because she claimed she liked him and even when he got hospitalized for a week, she didn’t call or text.Later, Felix started to get worried. Felix walked out of his office holding a document in his hand. He walked into the nearest office to him and dropped the document on the table as he turned to the girl seating on one of the table.“You have to fax that to the Office of the Dena of Student Affairs, President should see it before you fax it though” Felix said as he walked out of the room and walked back to his office. Felix allowed Jomi to pull him along ignoring the stares and curious glances the other students sent towards them. He slid his other hand into his pocket. They kept quiet as they walked when a car suddenly pulled beside them. The black glass rolled downwards and Felix chuckled.“G? When did you come back?” Felix asked and George laughed heartily.“A few days ago” George replied as he turned towards Jomi who was looking at him curiously.“Ohh, this is Jomiloju” Felix introduced and Jomi gave George a small smile as she nodded.“Anjola will be so happy you are back already” Felix said and George laughed.“Then Kola will be ready to chop off my head. “You discover that you can’t live without them, you can’t breathe without them. In a nutshell even without you realizing sometimes, they become your everything” Jomi finished as she laughed.“It’s a personal opinion that I used myself as an example. Don’t get too bothered. I was just expressing myself” Jomi added as she continued eating.Felix swallowed his saliva as stared at Jomi who was eating as if she didn’t say anything the previous meeting.“Jomiloju” Felix called and Jomi turned to face him.“Huh?” Jomi asked.“You did more than answer my question” Felix replied and Jomi quickly chewed the food in her mouth as she nodded.“I know. I know I did more than answer your question. I thought you wouldn’t notice” Jomi said and Felix chuckled.“My IQ is pretty much as high as yours” Felix said and Jomi nodded.

Felix watched as Stephen parked the car and got down from the car. He sighed as he opened the door and got down as well. David and Paul walked up to them as soon as they got down.“How was your date?” Paul asked and Felix shrugged without saying a word and walked inside the house.“What’s going on?” Paul asked as he pointed to Felix’s retreating back. Stephen glanced at him and shrugged his shoulders as well.“He needs time and space for now” Stephen replied as he sighed.“It’s taking him so long to realize it” Paul said as he folded his hands while David watched with pursed lips.“You can’t blame him. If he needs time, then give him time, don’t push him too much” David said and Stephen swallowed his saliva without saying anything.“Should I bring your dinner to your room?” Anjola asked as soon as Felix walked inside the house.

Felix pursed his lips lightly as he turned to Paul. “Did you really feel like that at a point in time?” Felix asked and Paul nodded with a smile.“Of course. I had mine better. Maryorkun had it worse as you might have realized, Stephen as well since it was his alternate personality that liked Tolani. We all had it Felix and trust me it was hard. Kola had it the worse actually. That’s one of the reasons he and Anjola have the best relationship. There’s no big deal in trying to be sure of your feelings” Paul replied.“It’s okay. It’s definitely normal. Take your time Felix but at the same time I want you to calm down okay? I want you to relax and trust me, it wouldn’t be long before everything falls in place” Paul added with a smile. Felix chuckled as he reached over and pulled Paul in for a hug.“Thank you Paul. Thank you very much” Felix said as he got down from the car.

“Man, what did you do?” Paul asked as they rushed towards where Felix was standing alone.“I allowed her to walk away. She’ll be free if she does that” Felix said slowly as he turned to his friends.“I don’t even know how I feel towards her; why should I keep holding her by my side when because I know she won’t leave?” Felix asked slowly as everyone fell silent.“It has been unfair to her for a long time now, I should let her go” Felix said as he started walking away slowly.“Felix” Kola called as Felix turned towards him.“I’ll see if you can live without her” Kola said before he walked towards him and patted his shoulder and walked away.“Let’s go home” Paul said softly as he placed his hand around Felix.
