CHAPTER 03: POEM

"Evelyn, you have been staring at this wall for so long. What are you looking for?"

Ava's father was late today and both of them were waiting for him.

Actually, Ava was waiting while Evelyn was looking at the memory wall of the college.

"Nothing, I'm just looking at it."

The wall was covered with newspaper cuttings of all the best students from the beginning.

She was looking for Sebastian among them.

"There is nothing interesting about what you have been doing for the past ten minutes."

"Shut up, Ava."

"Got it!"

She saw Sebastian standing with the president and the principal in a photograph.

Under the image, the names of those three were also written, but because the newspaper was torn, she was unable to make out Sebastian's name.

Sebastian, however, was not his full name, and that was well known.

"Come on, Dad has arrived."

Ava informed her after looking at her phone, so she gave Sebastian's picture one last look before leaving with her.

..........

"What is your name?"

"I thought you knew my name."

"I saw your picture on the memory wall."

He was sitting under the same tree when Evelyn came to him.

"You ask a lot of questions. Asking questions is good if they are not related to others."

"I did not ask anything like that." Evelyn was now feeling bad.

"Sebastian is my father's name, I use his name. Why?"

"Then what name does your father use?" She asked sitting next to him.

"He is not alive."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"Why? Why are you sorry? You don't even know him." She got confused on his words. Before she could say anything more, Ava's voice made her look at her.

"Hurry up, it's our class time."

It was clear from her face that she felt very angry seeing Evelyn with Sebastian.

"Ava....

"Get out of here quickly."

She said angrily to her and turned away, so Evelyn looked at Sebastian, for whom it was the same whether they were there or not.

.........

"You... what were you doing with him?" Ava pulled her and started asking.

"I did not understand yesterday's lecture, so he was explaining."

"You are lying. You understand everything very well and you lied to me and went to him. When you know that everyone says that he is dangerous."

"He is not dangerous, Ava. This is what I want to tell everyone."

"Evelyn. It is not your responsibility to tell this to everyone and don't try to be Mother Teresa." She glared at her while growling.

"And since when did you start being interested in boys and he is much older than you." Evelyn's eyes widened in shock.

"Ava. Do you think about me like that?" Tears started coming to her eyes on her friend's words.

"No. But whoever sees you alone with him will think the same."

She said carelessly shrugging her shoulders while Evelyn freed her arm from her and ran to the other side.

She felt very humiliated by Ava's words. Ava was thinking all this about her and it was making her very sad.

..........

On that day, Evelyn did not take any other class but kept crying alone.

Then, throwing her bag in the locker, she went to the race track.

In anger, she knocked down a girl, so as a punishment, she was made to stand on one side.

Although she accidentally bumped into her and apologized, the coach still pushed her aside.

But after they all left, she kept running there alone for the rest of the time.

Whenever she was alone, she would feel that someone was watching her, which she was now learning to ignore.

When she saw the time on the clock, it was time for her father to come and she went to the locker room after getting her breathing back to normal.

She had just opened it when lots of roses started falling from her locker.

At first, she was shocked and started looking anxiously as to what happened.

Then she took out the bag from the locker and started putting the flowers back in the locker, but the flowers were so many that they fell out again and again, which made her worried.

"Why would someone keep so many flowers in my locker? And how can someone open it?"

It was a different thing that started to bother her.

Suddenly she felt a strong fear of being alone.

Now instead of putting the flowers back, she started throwing them out, then emptied the locker and ran away from there.

She also remembered the flower that she had taken with her a few days ago.

"Maybe someone made a joke."

But why would someone work so hard for a joke?

She himself denied her thought.

When she reached the gate, her father had not come yet and she sat there in the waiting area and started thinking.

"Perhaps someone mistakenly thought it was someone else's locker."

This was the reason that was coming to her mind.

She had taken the bag off her shoulder and set it aside when she noticed a folded piece of paper stuck to it with the help of a pin.

She took off that paper and started looking at it.

Is it love or lust? is it infatuation or a crush?

The answer is none of the above.

It's the feeling i have inside...

For my Nubian prize.

Perhaps it was part of a poem.

Evelyn started chewing her lips.

No inter or graduation student could write such a poem. Maybe someone got it from the internet.

She was thinking about this when the gate keeper informed her about her father's arrival and she got up.

She read the last line from the paper and wrote it in the G****e search engine.

As soon as the search button was pressed, all the information about this poem came out.

After reading the poem, her cheeks started to turn pink.

She stood up shaking her head.

She tore the paper and threw it in the dustbin.

These were unusual incidents that happened to her which she was ignoring one after another.

.............

"He did not come today."

"Hmmm. What did you say?"

"The one you are looking for has not come today." Ava looked at her angrily and said.

"I am not looking for anyone." She started telling lies.

"Then why are you turning back again and again? Pay attention to the lecture."

Evelyn pouted her lips when she started scolding her.

They were separated for the last hour due to a different subject.

Evelyn took advantage of this and started looking for Sebastian.

Fortunately, she found him under the same tree.

"Why didn't you come to psychology class today?"

"Did you not understand the lecture even today?" He asked in his usual tone.

"No, I just wanted to talk to you."

"Did no one tell you that I am dangerous?"

His tone was as if everything about him was true.

Evelyn's heart skipped a beat.

"A-re t-they telling the truth?" She asked, stuttering.

"How innocent are you?"

Looking at her face carefully, he said. But his eyes were as if they would reach the darkness of her soul. As if he will know her secrets which she herself did not accept.

"It is better for you to stay away from me before I change my mind and never let you go back, my dear."

He looked at her with his gray eyes and said.

Evelyn trembled at the threat hidden in his tone and got up and ran away.

Sebastian started watching her go away.

She was like a bird that was slowly moving towards the cage and she did not even realize it yet.

.........

"Evelyn, my child, where are you lost these days?"

Her mother noticed the change in her immediately.

She came out of her thoughts.

"Nothing, Mom. I was thinking how mysterious some people are, I don't know if they are good or bad."

Today, she was thinking about the way Sebastian had scared her, because she was young, how could she understand the meaning of his eyes.

"What mysterious person are you talking about, as far as I know, Ava cannot be that person."

Evelyn smiled at her words.

"Yes, Ava can never be that person but mom I want to make a new friend and she is very mysterious. I don't understand her. But I really want to be her friend."

She began to describe her difficulty in hidden words.

"She doesn't even have any friends." She started telling while being sad.

"No matter every relationship needs some time. Friendship is also one of such relationships."

"You are right, mom."

She kissed her cheek and said.

Maybe, he said that to distance me from himself, but I am also Evelyn and I will definitely make him my friend.

She looked forward to the next day with a new determination.

..........

As soon as she entered the psychology class, she saw Sebastian sitting in his seat.

She sat in her place with Ava.

Only a few minutes had passed when she felt strongly that someone was staring at her.

Evelyn suddenly looked back but everyone was busy making notes and Sebastian was also typing something fast.

When she suddenly turned around, many students of her class started looking at her, then she sat straight again.

Because of this feeling, she was not even able to understand anything, while thinking about something, she took out the small mirror kept in her bag and started looking at everyone behind her through it.

But what made her heart beat faster was Sebastian smirking at her.

She quickly put the mirror in the bag so that no one would see it.

She, who had the intention of talking to him again today, had now ended that intention.

There was so much coldness in his eyes and something that she could not understand.
