Chapter 16: Just Like Your Father

Elaine couldn't understand how she and Aaron ended up acting in this melodramatic scene. Something was not right.

"Aaron, have you lost your mind? Do I need to remind you that you're about to have an engagement ceremony with Sarah Garcia in a few days? What does it mean for you to hold me like this?" she exclaimed.

The man's heavy breaths brushed against her neck with a scorching heat. Elaine felt awkward and turned her head to the side, trying to avoid it. After a moment of thought, she reached out to pry his hand off.

"Let me go first," she demanded.

Aaron shook his head.

Elaine was furious. What was happening? Suddenly, her phone rang loudly from her bag. She freed one hand to reach for her phone and saw an unknown number. She asked, "Who is it?"

"Miss Smith, it's me," a playful voice came through the phone. Elaine found it familiar, and the person on the other end seemed overly familiar as well. "I'm Calvin. Have you forgotten that we were supposed to have dinner together tonight?
