Chapter 5

The other employees were looking at Trina when she entered. She only smiled slightly because she felt awkward with their stare.

"Isn't she the one who was seen with Sir Darren? Isn't it true that she is the one Sir Darren is dating?" She heard the women's whispers, but she didn't pay attention to them. She went straight to Darren's office. She caught him busy on his laptop.

"What? Do you need something? Not because you're my wife, you can just come and go in my office as you, please. You're still an employee here, Trina," he said coldly.

"I know. I just want to know where you're going to put me."

"Just stay outside my office so that when I call you, you can go quickly. And I want you to do another design for the upcoming show. I saw your designs but I want you to do something else. I will give you one week. Is that enough?" he asked.

Trina wondered if she could handle just one week. "Maybe I can."

"I don't want to hear maybe. Make sure you can do it," he said rudely.

"Yes, I can," Trina just answered and Darren just nodded. He stood up and left the office followed by Trina. Darren went to a cubicle near the door of his office.

"Just stay here. Are you okay here?"

"I'm fine here."

"Okay. Everyone, listen. She's Trina Montenegros and she's going to work here. Be nice to her.” He grabbed their attention and said.

"Yes, sir," they answered at the same time.

He went back to his office again and left Trina in her cubicle. She put down her bag and then faced the computer and a sketcher with different types of pencils.

"Hi, I'm Angel. Nice to meet you,” introduced the woman next to her.

"Hi, I'm Trina." She smiled as well.

"Are you Montenegros? What is your relationship with the owner of Montenegros group?” she asked.

"I'm Zack Montenegros's daughter." She looked at her in surprise. Joyce was better known as Zack's daughter than her.

"For real? I didn't know that Sir Zack had another child. The one we always see is Joyce."

"Because I don't often go out of the house. My sister is the only one who is always outside so everyone knows her."

"Ah, that's right. Nice to meet you, Trina." Smiling, she held out her hand so Trina just accepted it because she looked nice. That's okay, so she wouldn't be lonely and there was someone to talk to during break time. She started her drawing because she had to show Darren a lot for him to choose from. Ever since she was a child, she loved drawing so she chose to become a designer because she enjoys this job more. She didn't realize the time because she was enjoying herself.

She just looked at her cell phone when someone texted. When she saw Darren's name appear, she opened it.

[Before lunch, go here to my office. Grandpa ordered our food so you're going to eat lunch here in my office.]

She read her husband's text. Why does she have to come and eat there? Did he want everyone to know that he was married? Because the wedding was exclusive and only business people were invited to the wedding. She just rolled her eyes. She continued her drawing.

After a while, Angel approached her.

"Aren't you going to have lunch yet?" Trina looked at the time and it was already lunch break. She just turned to Darren's door. Maybe he wouldn't be angry if she didn't eat with the young man.

"You go first because I have something else to do," she said. She could disobey the young man because they were both unhappy with what happened but she didn't want to make the old Dela Vegas angry especially if he was the one who ordered the two of them to eat.

"Are you sure?"

"Hmmm. Maybe I'll just follow you after." Angel just smiled at her then she went out. When she was the only one left there, she stood up and entered Darren's office without knocking. She caught up with him sitting on the sofa while still facing the laptop. She noticed a large amount of food on his table.

"Sit down," Darren ordered without looking at Trina. The girl sat down and took her plate to serve something to eat.

"Aren't you going to eat yet? Maybe the food will get cold. I'm eating fast because I still have a lot to do," she said. Darren turned his laptop aside and then took the cell phone.

"What are you doing?" Trina asked.

"I just want to send evidence to Grandfather that you did eat here. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have done it." He took a photo of the two of them. Trina just let him go and then continued to take food. They ate quietly, but with the amount of food, they definitely couldn't finish it. While eating, Trina looked around Darren's office. It was wide and arranged like he was at home.

"When will the company show take place?" She broke the silence.

"Maybe next month."

"Next month? Isn't it too early?”

"That's why I made you finish your designs quickly so that once the board is chosen, the sewing will also begin. If you can't do it, just say so because I'll just give it to another designer," he said coldly. He seemed to be in too much of a hurry with everything. Just imagining what he wanted to happen, it already looked impossible. The tailors would run out of time. I guess they were right. He had no heart and no mercy and if he wanted something, you could do nothing but obey. She rolled her eyes. What kind of man did she marry? What's the use of being handsome and rich if his attitude was even better than trash? She just kept quiet and finished eating.

When Darren finished, Trina fixed what they had eaten. She also covered the food they didn't finish.

"Just leave them to the cleaners. Go back to your work," he ordered coldly. Trina left without a word.

"Did sir tell you to do anything else? Have you eaten?" Angel asked when she saw that Trina had just come out of Darren's office.

"I've eaten. Don't worry about me," she answered with a smile. They returned to their work. Trina's attention was only focused on her drawing. She would probably only draw five so Darren could choose.

She just stretched herself out. She looked around her and frowned when she saw that there weren't many people. She turned to Angel who was still busy looking at her computer. She looked at the time. It was six o'clock.

"Aren't you going home yet?" Trina asked her because she didn't seem to notice the time.

"I'm just going to finish my report because I need to submit it tomorrow. You can go first if you want," she said. She turned to Darren's office. Has he returned home or is he still there? She asked in her mind.

Why does she care if he had come home or not? She turned her eyes back to the dress she had already drawn. She would only add a little design and then color it. She would be able to finish one. A few minutes passed when Darren's door opened. He turned to Trina's place and just frowned because he thought that she had come home a while ago but yet she was still working.

He grabbed his cell phone and typed a message for Trina. He walked past her and went out. Trina looked at the person who texted her. She just looked behind her and saw Darren walking out.

"I'm done. Let's go," Angel said, so Trina fixed her work and then stood up. She and Angel went down together.

"I'll go here. Be careful," Trina said. Angel just waved and went out. Trina entered the door to the parking lot in the basement. She saw Darren's car was still there. Nick was outside waiting. He gave her keys to Nick because Darren wanted Trina to get in his car and went home together. Trina rode quietly then Darren started his car.

"I often work overtime so you should go home when it's time to go home, or are you still waiting for me?"

"In your dreams. I thought you went home already, so I waited for Angel."

"Tss. A friend, huh?" he said. Why did he care if she had a friend in the company? Maybe he's not happy with his life, tss. Trina went down first when they got to their house and then went inside.

“Good evening, Ma'am,” greeted the assistant she just saw. Maybe she came in earlier when she and Darren were gone. "We are the ones sent by the chairman to work here," she continued.

"Have you been here for a while?"

"Just this afternoon, Ma'am." Trina just nodded and then went up to her room to get dressed. She didn't look back at Darren. When she finished, she left the room. She and Darren looked at each other at the same time as they left their room. Darren went down first. Trina followed just as the maid called for their dinner.

It seemed that he preferred to be in the office rather than here at their house. She thought her saliva would rot. But if anything, it was okay that the young man didn't talk to her apart from work. They ate in silence. They didn't care about each other. When Trina finished, she left the kitchen without saying a word, then turned on their TV in the living room. She wanted to watch for a while before going to sleep. She was also thinking carefully about her design so that she could finish it and pass it on to Darren. She preferred that she finished early because it was difficult to be late.

"Every lunch, you will eat at my office. I don't need to remind you of that every day," Darren interrupted.

"Okay," was her only answer.

"And one more thing. Even if the relationship between the two of us spreads, don't answer people's questions, especially in the company."

"Yes, I know. You don't have to tell me because I'm not proud to have you as my husband," Trina said annoyed. Darren approached the girl.

"I'm just reminding you, Lady. You speak like you didn't feel a little happy when you married me." Trina snorted then boldly met Darren's gaze.

"Even for a little, Darren, I was not happy. It was a big regret, think of it that way because that's what I feel right now. My life is peaceful in our house so don't disturb me, let's mind our own business."

"I can give you that as long as you also give me silence," he said then turned his back on Trina, really proud. He really thought highly of himself. Trina turned off the TV and went to her room to go to sleep. She still had an early morning.

When Darren got dressed, he came down from his room. Their maids had already served food. He started to eat but Darren noticed that Trina still didn't come down. He was about to finish his meal but he still couldn't see Trina.

"Just wake up Trina because she might still be asleep. I'll go in first," Darren said after he finished eating.

"Ma'am Trina came in a while ago, Sir," the maid replied. His eyebrows creased as he looked at his watch. It was only seven o'clock. It was early in the morning. He didn't pay any more attention and went to the office. When he arrived, he saw Trina already working. He didn't bother her anymore and went straight to his office.

Trina's full attention was focused on her designs. She just smiled because her design wouldn't take more than a week and she could pass it on to Darren. It felt good to do something you loved because it ended quickly.

A few days passed and she finished it. She spread it in her cubicle so she could see it clearly when someone called her name.

"The chairman called you," said the woman who called her. She frowned because this was the first time the chairman called for her. She left her designs first then entered the old man's office.

Joyce entered the office where Trina was working.

"Where is Trina's table?" she asked her co-worker with a smile.

"Ah, ma'am, near Sir Darren's door," her co-worker answered. Joyce went there but she couldn't reach her sister. She dropped the papers that her father asked her to deliver to her table when she saw Trina's beautiful design. She just grinned. She looked around her and everyone was busy. She turned around and then simply knocked down the inks that Trina used in her designs and quickly left. She left the department with a big smile because she could finally get revenge on her sister.

"By the way, isn't Darren making it hard for you in your house? How is your relationship going?” the old man asked Trina.

"It's okay, Chairman."

"That's good. That's all I want to ask you. I found out that you are Darren's chosen designer for the upcoming show."

"Yes, Chairman. I'll go first." The old man nodded then Trina went out. When Trina got to her cubicle, her eyes widened when she saw that her work was full of ink.

“Oh my God!” she exclaimed. She tried to wipe her work but the ink spread even more.

"What happened?" Angel asked. "Oh, God! What happened there?” she asked in surprise when she saw that Trina's work was all messed up with ink. Trina seemed to stiffen in her position because she was going to pass it on to Darren today. That's what she said last night and now she's going to show them to the board. Darren came out of his office to ask Trina about the design when he saw that her face was not well so he approached her. Darren frowned when he saw that Trina's work was covered in ink.

"Come to my office now, Trina," he coldly ordered and then turned away. Trina didn't know what to do because of what happened.
