Kiara’s POV:-

“What’s happening here?” A sudden, loud voice interrupted us, making me aware of the person who had stepped in. My breath hitched when I recognized the voice.

“Dr. Ryan,” Sophie acknowledged the person; her voice was low as well. “We were waiting for you!”

It was Ryan. Of course.

Footsteps echoed in the sudden silent ward. Ryan stepped in before I heard the door closing. His presence immediately shifted the atmosphere.

I suppressed an inaudible sniffle, determined to hold back the flood of emotions threatening to overwhelm me.

He, perhaps, sensed the tension in the room as he entered. “Is everything alright, Sister Sophie?” His voice was calm but carried an underlying concern that was hard to miss.

“Yes, doctor.”

“The air here suggests otherwise!”

Soph knew her words failed to provide confidence and hence when Ryan asked she shut her mouth.

I can feel him staring at us with curious eyes. Thankfully, he had come alone and not brought anyone with him.
