28. Like A Hungry Lion

After a few minutes, Gabriella's eyelids were almost closed tightly. It was a very quiet night for her. No Max, no coercion. There was only Snowy and the soft bed underneath.

Unexpectedly, the door opened wide. The woman became conscious in an instant.

"Max?" she sighed before swallowing hard. Her eyes quivered to compensate for her sudden rapid heartbeat.

"You didn't open the door for me on purpose, huh?" the man asked, carelessly taking off his shirt. The look in his sharp eyes and the roar of his breath made Gabriella more shrunken.

“I had no idea you were coming,” Gabriella replied with furrowed brows and bowed head. Her hand was holding Snowy tighter.

"So you fell asleep while your husband was waiting at the door?"

Gabriella's lips trembled wordlessly. The courage she had cultivated earlier had withered, moreover, when Max slammed his trousers on the floor.

"You should have waited so I wouldn't have to bang on the door!"
