Chapter Thirteen

Just as she was trying to calm her pounding heart, the rain poured down slowly, drenching her a bit and her body reacting by shivering. The sound of thunder echoed through the darkened streets, adding to her unease.

As she walked with hurried steps, desperately seeking shelter, a sudden flash of headlights illuminated her face, momentarily blinding her. She instinctively shielded her eyes, squinting through the rain-soaked strands of her hair.

To her surprise, the car came to a halt right in front of her, its engine purring softly. Through the misty windshield, she could make out the silhouette of a man behind the wheel.

'Isn't this Boss' car?'

She asked herself.

The car door opened, and the driver stepped out, holding an umbrella to shield himself from the downpour. He looked at her with concern, his eyes reflecting the faint glow of the streetlights.
