While sitting on the dining table completely in shock Editha excused herself and went to the master's bedroom she then rushed to the bathroom, leaving everyone wondering what was going on with her.

She took three tablets of Chloral hydrate or what we simply pop pills today as sleeping tablets.

Chloral hydrate was the first synthetically produced sedative-hypnotic drug, was commonly used in the late 19th century to treat insomnia, and was still occasionally used to reduce anxiety or produce sleep before surgery.

Editha had always kept a bottle of this drug in her medicine cabinet, in case of an emergency since Hannele got out of the hospital in case a time like this came where she could simply drug her daughter to avoid the violent outbursts and this night for her was an emergency.
