Chapter 31 Why apologize?

The morning sun peeked through the window, casting a warm glow on the room. The birds outside chirped in unison, their sweet melodies filling the air. As I slowly regained consciousness, the rumble of several cars being warmed up in the mansion's driveway seeped through the closed windows.

A splitting headache throbbed in my temples as I groaned, trying to sit up. My eyes fluttered open, and I realized I had fallen asleep on the ground. I curled into a fetal position, trying to shield my throbbing head from the light.

Beside me lay an empty glass bottle of alcohol I must have taken from Giovanni's bar, its label glinting in the sunlight. As my gaze traveled around me, I noticed the shattered remains of a tumbler scattered on the floor above my head, glinting in the morning light.

I rubbed my temples, the throbbing intensifying with each passing moment. Next, a knock landed hard on the door, making me wince. I could barely stand, my brain was about to explode.
