100: In Her Place

Cora’s POV

I laid on the ground weakly, cursing whoever sent the snakes that made me an invalid that could be brought crashing down by a kick to the heels. It was a venomous bite and nothing short of supernatural so I knew that it’d take longer than a normal wound to heal but I’d stubbornly come to work instead of resting while it healed.

My head rose gingerly to meet Kai’s eyes and instead of a smirk like any other person would have after finding out their enemy’s weakness, he just had his signature look of darkness clouding his features as he watched me fight the urge to groan in pain.

But all I could think of was how? How had the smug bastard known I had a weak and injured spot? And then it all came flooding back.

I’d seen him taking in my appearance earlier, and knowing that his intentions were anything but selfish and hateful toward everything that crossed his path I should've known that he was mapping out my body for a weakness to exploit in case I tried to put a dent in his fuc
