Nik's Pov

Immediately I scooped her in my arms, I could feel her shiver from the cold crisp air. Thankfully with her shawl, the cold wouldn't affect her too much

"Are you okay?” I muttered into her soft black hair that smelled like strawberry. She whimpered and I felt her relax in my grip as she wrapped her own small hands tighter around me.

My heart melted at this tender moment. She would still be in shock, I realised. I strode into the Packhouse with five guards following closely behind me. The others had gone with Rowan to effect my order.

She clung to me tighter and inhaled a deep sigh. I would give anything to know what she was thinking about but if I asked her I might not get an answer. It was better she came out of it herself.

I had a lot of questions to ask her like why she was deep in the forest late at night when she should have been in her bed sleeping but this wasn't the time.

"You may leave us now. Thank you." I said when we crossed into my quarters.
