Sam confidently guided us through the castle. He clasped my wrist almost painfully tight, but I didn't comment or complain and followed him happily.

"Back to land first. Time to get this thing out of you, sweetheart." Sam said, his hand still firmly around my wrist. "Sweetheart?" I asked back with raised eyebrows. "Sweetheart, darling, ruby, love, sugar-"

"If any humans on earth actually knew the feared satan, they would all laugh and start making comedies instead of horror movies." Elle said loudly to Adrian.

Wrong thing to say.

Sam abruptly turned around to her, and all the surrounding lights flickered off at once. Sam let go of me. In complete darkness, I heard a monstrous, ghastly growl, sending shivers down my spine and causing me to seek support by pressing my hand against the cool, marble wall.

"Sammi." Adrian snapped from across the hallway.

The hairs on the back of my neck rose.

"AAAAAAAAAAHHH!"

An ear-piercing scream, coming from Elle's marine demon, sounded through the air.
