Chapter 22: Teeth in

I groaned and closed my eyes as a wave of strange sensations washed over me. My mouth was dry, my head ached, and my fingers began to tingle. Samael smirked at me, then turned and walked toward his alcohol cabinet, retrieving the bottle of wine I had opened earlier. He glanced at it with a sigh, but ultimately pointed at my glass.

In response, I quickly finished the remaining wine, handed him my glass, and rubbed the back of my neck. The heat coursing through me was unbearable.

"How's the high?" He asked whilst he filled my glass of wine up. "There is no high." I said back in a snappy tone.

Unexpectedly, he leaned down and placed his cool hand on my burning leg.

I almost moaned.

I always hated the cold. Hated rain, winter, cold mornings, cold showers, anything icy. I didn't even like my water cold. My drinks were always ordered without ice and I preferred hot wine over cold wine.

But his hand, that felt like heaven.

Samael's knowing smirk indicated that he was well aware of the effect
