Elena’s POV:

I stared at Adrian with my mouth dropped open.

“I...I don’t know how to say it. You’ve caught me off guard,” I stuttered.

Adrian smiled and grasped my shoulder.

“Calm down and take a deep breath. I know I shouldn’t have asked you out of the blue,”

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to ease my fanatically beating heart.

“Look, you’re a great guy. You’re attractive and you’ve insanely captivating personality but...”

“But?” He tilted his head to the side asking me with an amused smile on his face.

“But, I’m in love with, Jake,” I choked out.

I looked down at my feet in embarrassment, remembering how I just told him a few minutes ago that I broke up with my boyfriend.

“Well, I was expecting to hear that,” Adrian said with a playful smile on his face.

My eyes darted up to look at the smile plastered on his face.

“What?” I asked him in confusion.

“Do you know why I asked you out?”

“Um... cuz you like me,” I said with a shrug.

“I like you a lot but as a friend,”
