I’ve experienced many wins in life, but I’ve also had more than my share of losses. Some losses came through no fault of my own. However, many were of my own making, coming from bad choices and dumb mistakes. On March 12, 2009, I made the mother of all stupid mistakes. I tried to go through security at a major airport with a forgotten handgun in my briefcase. That is a federal offense!
It was by far the dumbest thing I’ve ever done.
Too often in my life I have not been careful enough. I knew better than to put a gun in my briefcase. Immediately after security found the gun, I began silently lecturing myself about my carelessness.
I silently laugh while sitting on the lounger upon reading that part of the book. My friends are very busy playing and swimming on the pool I preferred sitting in here, reading this piece of a book—and maybe going to be geek once again after a long time. Going back, my mind is
“Hello?” I answered the call even though it is an Unknown number being flash on my phone screen. I notice how Levi, who is still sitting on the pool side, look at me. I move backwards to hear something from the speaker but like earlier, the caller is silent and I have no clue who this person is. “Hello, are you mute?” I annoyingly stated and was about to check the screen when the call ended right away. My brows formed a straight line. What are people up these days? I thought to myself. I walk back to the lounger and put my phone there. Levi is still looking at me but I just shrug my shoulders up to tell him that I don’t know who it was. While walking back to where I left Rael, I heard Cassidy running from the inside and she is now holding a bucket with bottles of drinks inside it. “Bring it on!” She shouted while running until she reached at the table. Everleigh is laughing from the other side of the pool and just when I am about to lo
“What? After you gave all those gifts to me because you said you like me, you want me to pay all of those gifts now just because I don’t want you anymore?!” Levi and I look to our left side when we heard Cassidy shouting at someone in the phone. I then look at Levi worriedly, thinking that she’ll go loud once again because of that certain person she is talking to. We are all in the department store right now, following Cassidy’s whims earlier, but hearing her talk with someone like that worries me so much. She can really literally go crazy even in public and I could not hold it that way. She is a freakish one since she is raised as the spoiled brat in the family. “Jerk, what do you think of me, your lending company? Are you that thick-faced?!” I watch how she continuously pull some coats from the shelf while talking in the phone. I found Everleigh’s gaze and she is also curious on what is going on here. “Stop her.” I told Levi but the
Even though Cassidy don’t want me to go, she is left with no choice when I asked our family driver to send me off back in the university. I just message don’t friends that I went back first and now, I am inside the car also waiting for Dad’s call. He told me that they will call today but I almost arrived in the university but I still haven’t received any. Since I know that they are busy as well, I ignore it and went out the car immediately. I said my thanks and bid the driver goodbye before entering the university with a Chanel paper bag. Good thing I used my university hand bag last Saturday so I still have some of my supplies with me—even the paper. As I walk through the hallway, I feel a little alone since oftentimes, I would be walking this hallway with the three guys but now, I am alone and it’s so new. “Dionne!” I look behind and saw Alaric with his sports bag. He looks newly bathe but he still looks good anyway. He is only wearing a pair of sports shor
I am taken aback when Mister Dawson said that. Right now, I am staring straight at him with my parted lips and I can’t seem to find the words to utter towards him. After a few seconds, I saw how he lean back on his chair without removing that little smirk on his face. I then realized what just happened and because of that, I grab the first thing I saw on his table and threw it at him. "Wait, what the–" We both look at each other after I did that. My nostrils are flaring but he is now down on the floor so I got confuse a little and check in his below. The moment he come up, he look at me and showed me his own from the other day and I can absolutely see how his ears and face went red while giving me sharp glances. "What?!" I annoyingly exclaimed. "You just ruined a 450$ worth of pen?!" I blink my eyes then found the pen he is referring to. The cap is now cracked and it falls easily now like it can't be lock anymore. He just stare into it
Ialmost forgot that I still have to meet Mister Dawson and his Dad today, making me jump out of the chair inside the library when it is two minutes before two in the afternoon already. Alaric looks so surprised and shock at the same time— even some of the students around the area look at our side.I bow a little to apologise before looking back down at Alaric. “I am so sorry but I forgot that I still have to meet with someone at two.”Realization also dawned inside him before checking for the time on his wrist watch. “It’s 1:59 already. You are going late.”“I feel so wrong. Thank you for today and I am sorry as well. Promise, I’ll be sparing a full of my time for this Thesis next time.”He chuckled. “It’s fine, Dionne. Go. I will be staying here to read this book.”With a nodding head, I bid my goodbye at Alaric and before checking my phone notification if perhaps, Miste
Because of what he said, I could not find the right poise and stance the moment it sank inside me that I am here to meet his Dad. I started to look around, clueless on what to do next since I haven’t think about this carefully and now, I want to regret everything— thinking that meeting his dad is like only meeting an old friend. “Goodness–“ My words are cut off when I felt how Mister Dawson wrap his left arm around my waist, making me stand cold and stiff the moment he did that. I am about to complain when the gate slowly opens, showing a good-looking man maybe in his late fifties. I am not sure if I look alright right now but I force a smile on my face as soon as our eyes met. “H-Hi!” I greeted. “Ah, damn it.” Mister Dawson whispered so I look at him. With so much guts slowly building inside me, I move my right arm to Mister Dawson’s waist before I look back on his Dad. “Mister Dawson, good afternoon.” I politely uttered. He stares at
I am inside the library of this house since the two men are both talking to each other privately. Mister Dawson asked me sweetly earlier in front of his Dad if where would I like to spend my free time here and God knows I wanted to laugh at him— face to face. The way his nose secretly flares when he saw me wanting to laugh made it even funnier. My eyes wander around the place and notice how the books are piled according and the place seems cleaned despite from the fact that some of the books in here is quite old now. “Perhaps, some of these are owned by his Dad.” I murmured to myself. I walk towards the other part of the shelf when I notice picture frame on top it and saw a man wearing a university toga. I tilted my head before flashing a little smile. “It’s Tito.” I whispered. My eyes move around once again until a colorful book caught my attention from the other shelf. This books here seems new so perhaps these are ne
I look around after asking myself that unanswered question before standing up. I move my eyes around only to notice that the room is black and white themed. The place is so clean and organize that even my won room would get shy because it is full of dirt and mess. “I could not even see any laundry everywhere.” I added while I continue walking around. “Is this Mister Dawson’s room?” My so many unanswered questions have been finally justified when I notice a literature textbook on top of a working table inside this room. I bit my upper lip, thinking that he might be here earlier while I was sleeping and I suddenly got worried on how do I look like while sleeping. Another opened book is on top of the table so I move to read it for a while killing the time. “William Wordsworth’s contributions to Romantic poetry can be divided into two categories. The first is his impact on literary excellence, and the second is his influence on his contemporaries
