Desdemona

Mother nudged David. "Tell her,"

I sit upright and put the magazine I was going through down.

My eyes shifted from him to her. "Tell me what?"

"We are planning on celebrating our union." He explains.

I nod. That's not bad. Everyone celebrates their union once in a while. Or many times at that.

Wait. They don't mean,

"A wedding?" My tone came out harsher than I had expected it to.

Mother observes my face for a while then let's out a chuckle. "Yes,why do you look surprised? You knew it was coming."

"You– don't you think it's too soon?"

Mother waves me off. "You young people get married even after the first date."

"Yes,but marriage is…huge!" I exlaimed.

"Yes," mother hums while coming around and taking my hands in hers. "Marriage is good. You get a partner to talk about everything to. Someone to cuddle with while you sleep and to help you I'm decision making. It's wonderful."

I steal my hands from hers.

"First of all,it is not. Also," I face the back and yell, "Kevin."
