Chapter 5: Quit the Act

Dad suddenly stood from his seat and his eyes widened at the man as if he recognized him. The guests chattered, surprised that someone suddenly came to break off the wedding.

“Isn’t that Edmund Moriarty?” Peyton asked. “Do you know him, Lily?”

“Edmund… Moriarty? Who is that?”

The name didn’t sound familiar, but if Peyton knows him, he must also be a big name in the business industry. But what the hell is he doing here? My life is already chaotic enough!

The chattering became louder when the man named Edmund walked to the aisle without bothering to look at anyone on the sideline. He graced the aisle with his black three-piece suit, hair slicked back, and his sleek shoes shining against the floor.

His fluid moves were marked with confidence and exuded pride and power.

Just with how he carried himself and how he barged into a wedding like he was walking around the park, I immediately knew he is not just a nobody. He’s a man who got power.

But the question is… how did he know my name? Why
