Lillian's POV

I woke up with a pounding head. As I moved to get out of bed, I noticed Marcus sleeping beside me, his arm wrapped around my waist.

His face reminded me of the picture Dylan had posted.

Frustration boiled inside me, and without thinking, I slapped Marcus on the cheek, startling him awake.

"Ouch! What was that for?" he asked, looking confused.

"Nothing," I mumbled, attempting to get up, but Marcus held me firmly in place.

He pulled me into a tight hug, burying his face in my neck, knowing it was my weakness.

"Are you still mad at me, Love?" he whispered softly.

I stayed silent, refusing to respond.

"I'm sorry the trial got rescheduled," he began to explain, but I interrupted him.

"You had to celebrate Alice's birthday, right?" I asked, my anger simmering.

Marcus positioned himself above me, trying to meet my gaze, but I looked away, avoiding his eyes.

"No, Love, I even forgot her birthday," he said, and I couldn't help but laugh sarcastically at his words.
