Lillian's POV

Act normal, Lillian. Don't be nervous. Act normal.

I kept reminding myself as I looked at Lucas.

I flashed a smile and shook my head.

"It's not that I am just surprised that you'll take such a huge responsibility,"

Lucas stared at my face intently as if assessing if he will believe me or not, but after a while, he nodded his head.

"Just don't tell my parents that you are pregnant. I am sure they will call off the engagement once they know," he said.

I stared at Lucas intently, and he stared back at me, raising his right eyebrow. "What is it?" he asked, confused about why I am staring at him.

"Why did you agree to become the father of my child?"

Lucas took some time to respond. He shrugged his shoulder. "You look helpless, Lillian, and I know I am your last hope. I am not that heartless to just watch your downfall when I know I can do something," he said, then smiled at me. "I am not a bad person, Lillian."
