Chapter 3

He makes an eye contact and I feel as if I'm being pulled towards him but the truth that we had stopped talking to each other 3 years ago strikes in my mind.

I feel pain and betrayal as I look into his eyes. Those eyes look so strange even though once they were the most comforting things for me but now all that I can see is shock reflected in them.

I really don't know why  I see shock instead of hatred and amusement.

I break the eye contact immediately and just enter my new classroom. As I take a seat, I feel as if I'm some sort of thing that is put on a display in a circus or a museum and the entire world is making a joke out of me.

God must be playing some sort of game with me. I don't understand why does he want me to meet Cedric again after everything that had taken place 3 years ago that had resulted in ending our friendship.

As I'm thinking all these, I see him entering the class. As he passes by, I feel suffocated and stand up hastily and grab my bag. I end up knocking a chair as I walk out of the class.

I break into a run and as I'm climbing down the stairs, I see a girl climbing the stairs quite hastily.

She is short and plump. She has light brown hair that curls up at the end and kind brown eyes and a kind face. She is so nervous that she doesn't notice me. She is looking around nervously and doesn't even notice when her pile of books fall down.

"Excuse me, your books have fallen down", I tell the nervous looking girl. "Oh!, thank you for telling me" she says quite nervously.

She then bends down to retrieve her pile of books from the ground and stands up.

"My name is Charlotte" I tell her and extend my hand forward as a kind gesture.

She looks at me from top to bottom. I know that my gesture has taken her by surprise and she continues to look nervous.

I look at her and to my surprise, she takes my hand and shakes it with a sweet smile.

"Hi, my name is Adele, nice to meet you Charlotte" she says with a smile.

"Are you a newcomer too?" she continues. "Yes, are you?" I ask her returning her smile.

"Yes" she says.

She seems to have calmed down after our short conversation.

"I'm taking literature" I tell her. "Oh really! I'm taking literature too" she tells.

"You better get going, the classes start in 15 minutes" I tell her.

"Aren't you coming?" she asks a bit sadly.

"Oh no, I've got some work to do but I'll show where the class is" I tell her.

After showing Adele where the class is, I wave her goodbye and continue climbing down the stairs.

I get into my car and take a deep breathe. The unexpected encounter with Cedric has shocked me completely. As I drive my car out of the college gate, I think that today I have escaped but from tomorrow I'll have to ignore him unless it is the right time because I have gone through a lot of pain.
