Chapter 8: Dinner

Dessy

Currently facing Adam at his elegant dining table and chairs having the same hue as the wall. Along with the expensive three types of figurines, there are delicious foods placed on top of it. Tasting the food pasta, when I took a bite, its delicious cream was filled all over my mouth. I appreciated the taste but I manage not to close my eyes. Adam is a really good at cooking, he can make food taste perfect.

My heart filled with appreciation, but I didn't show it to him through my reaction. That's what he was waiting for, he staring at me, not blinking his bloody black eyes expecting what I would say. But I didn't, my pride prevailed. It was reduced by 40% earlier when he kissed me and I responded.

That won't happen again!

There are many reasons why I have to refuse. I'm not safe once I'm always a part of his days. Many she-wolves wants to tear up my head. I don't want everyone to get into trouble because of this small but irresistible issue, there is a big possibility that our pack will be destroyed. There are many she-wolves who are spoiled by their parents, whatever they request is fulfilled.

Piercing the broccoli in my fork, I simply rolled it in mayonnaise and brought it to my lips. My mouth automatically watered. The vegetable salad is fucking delicious. My lips curved into an small smile which I did not mean but Adam saw it.

As expected, he asks, "How's the taste? You seem to like it."

I faded my smile and replied coldly, "I'm hungry, I haven't eaten since this morning."

Yeah, after we ate at the cafeteria, I couldn't eat again. Lucas took me away from him and brought me in front of Alpha King and Alpha Ceasar, for a training, which until now I don't understand why I had to do.

After the training, the miserable moment captivated me; Adam is the culprit. There was no food inside the chess room or whatever it was called, but all I remembered was that it was a room without a door, but there is still, that's why I got out.

I noticed that he crossed his arms across his chest. I just focused myself on the food and enjoying its taste. I want to bite mouthful of grilled meat, it's juicy, tender and tasty.

He spoke, "How's sweet, right? I ate with you this morning and tonight I'm with you again."

I can't help but glance at him with a glare. I said, "I couldn't find the sweetness in the part that after we ate, I almost burned." I remembered Lira who was ready to harm me as her prey with her power.

I'm secretly thankful to Lucas as my hero, if it wasn't for him my face might be like the grilled meat in front of me right now.

Adam remarks, "Lucas arrived!" My brows knitted and stopped chewing. I glued my eyes to him with a little squint. His hands are currently spread with a hint of proud on his face.

As my eyes aiming at him, my mind automatically flew to what happened this morning. Is he behind Lukas saving me from Lira? I murmur for purpose, "Yeah, he came." My eyes keep squinting. I went on, "I don't understand actually. You know what he did, as if the order came from you."

"You hit the spot." He sat up and grabbed a spoon and fork. "I'd rather do that than kill a she-wolf for you. I know that's against your will.

I don't like what he said about killing Lira, but that's what I ignored and asked what I wanted to know, "So you are involved in the training that I am being asked to do."

He gestured his fork at me while remarking, "Two points!"

My grip tightened, on the spoon and fork. My thumb pressed down on the fork on my right. I know once I have a wolf I'm sure this fork will be flattened. But since human strength is my strongest, it doesn't give.

Affirmation prevailed in me to get an answer when this question came out of my mouth, "Why do I need to train?"

He took a bite of meat and looked at me. My eyes caught his bloody black eyes that melt my system. I shook the sensation of his gaze brought to my system, I had to focus on his answer. But I was disappointed with what he gave, "Why are you being trained without receiving the reason?"

I spoke sarcastically, "Should the question be answered with another question?"

He took a deep breath. His eyes flickered on the dark wall and focused on me again. "You know what I don't like is everyone who gives me questions that I have to solve the puzzle to find out. Mathematics is a part of our lives but sometimes they turn life into math." He was silent for a moment to exchange glances with me until he remarked, "We have the same question, Dessy. Why do you need to train? I mean... I know, Beta, Gamma or Alpha need to train for the future, to prepare for obligations but to train like what you're facing now, that's kinda odd."

I averted my eyes as I brought it to my plate while thinking about what he was saying. Like me, he has no idea. My brows knitted but he spoke again, "I have a little idea about your training. I know my father is preparing you for the future, since I told him that you are my mate. But it's still weird, you don't need to train to be more good at everything, that kind of thing, that makes you powerful little by little for strange things."

He hit the center of my main question. My training is too much and this is just the beginning. And every time I pass each level it gets harder and harder as time goes on and I don't know what kind of training I will face next. Honestly what happened earlier, I thought from the beginning it was impossible for me to do it, but I did. I'm curious about the next challenge.

"I think you better to turn off your thoughts for now. Let's just eat."
