Chapter 26

His statement shocks me so much that I stop struggling. I stare at him and read the emotions being displayed on his face. It has a streak of strong determination.

“Let me go, Devyn!” I say but it sounds weak in my ears.

“Just promise me you won’t run away from me,” he says, wanting reassurance.

“Fine. I won’t run!”

He stares at me for a long time. His face is skeptical. I stare back at him, giving him a serious look. I have probably convinced him and he finally let go of my arm.

“Are you sure that you’re going to tell me everything?” I ask him with a raised eyebrow. I still have doubts about the sincerity in his words.

“Yes,” he simply says.

I give him a tiny shrug as  if I am not really into it. “What if I’m not interested anymore?”

“I’m still going to tell you everything.” His gaze doesn’t falter.

I show him a nonchalant shrug. I may look calm on the outside, but on the inside I feel a mixt
