EVANGELINE
The warriors of our pack shifted into their wolves, their powerful forms bristling with fury as they growled and snarled at Lucien. Lucien stood calmly, his hands shoved inside his trouser pockets, and despite him wearing a mask, I could make out the smirk playing on his lips. Sean’s wolf, with its ginger-colored fur, charged forward, leading the attack against the Lycan King. But Lucien was not intimidated. His emerald eyes glowed with a sinister light as he lifted his hand lazily, summoning his powers. With a flick of his wrist, a wave of force slammed into Sean’s wolf, sending it flying across the grand foyer of the modern mansion. The other wolves hesitated, momentarily stunned by the display of power. However, the Blood Moon Pack was not one to back down easily. They attacked as a pack, launching themselves at Lucien with all their might. But Lucien stood his ground, using his invisible powers to deflect their strikes and send them flying. His powers were a blur, slamming into the wolves like an invisible punch and tossing them around like ragdolls. As the battle raged on, I ran towards my Dad who had Mom in his arms. His eyes glowed red, like Lucien’s, and I realized that the powers of Asphalt were at play. But it didn’t seem to make a difference as my mother continued to shiver, her face turning paler with each passing second. Despite my father’s best efforts, I feared that it might already be too late. “What do we do now? Aunt Avery is not responding. What if he really kills her?” Mia’s voice trembled with fear as she asked the question and looked at her. I held onto my mother’s trembling hand, and the moment our skins touched my vision shifted to a place of destruction and chaos. I saw rogues running rampant in our pack, causing mayhem, and in the center of it, was the shadow of a mysterious man. His black eyes were trained on me, and he stood in front of a fiery landscape that looked like lava. The aura he radiated was one of power and danger, and I felt a chill run down my spine as I gazed at him. Before I could look further into it, I was snapped back to reality. I furrowed my brows, trying to understand what I had just seen. I turned to the fight, and my heart sank as I saw Lucien standing victoriously, with the wolves of our pack lying defeated at his feet. Yet they were still breathing, and it seemed like Lucien wasn’t planning on killing them, but rather making a point. The man I had seen in the vision wasn’t Lucien, but the aura he radiated was far more dangerous, and it made my throat run dry. Dad growled, and I could hear the vulnerability in his voice as Asphalt spoke through him, “It’s not working! He is controlling her body.” Despite his tough exterior, I could sense that my father was scared, and it broke my heart to see him like this. Mia stood over Mom, trying to use her powers to heal her, but her hands trembled with fear. Uncle Sky was a powerful hybrid with both wolf and witch abilities, and Mia had inherited those powers, but even she couldn’t bring Mom back. As I watched the fight unfold, I knew deep down that we wouldn’t be able to defeat Lucien. His powers were too strong and the waves of energy he emitted made me and Crystal increasingly anxious. I was the cause of this chaos. I had to find a way to stop it. Before I could even think, my senses took over and the words escaped my lips. “Stop it, please. I’ll come with you.” I could hear my own voice ringing through the grand foyer which had turned into a battlefield, and Lucien’s emerald eyes locked onto me. The wolves ceased their struggle, and I could sense that he had stopped whatever he was doing. Dad looked at me with deep concern etched on his face. “Eva…” he started. I stood tall and determined. “I can’t let Mom and the rest of my pack be killed because of me. If having me is what Lucien wants, then he can have it. Just leave my pack alone and take me with you.” “But Eva…” Sean stumbled forward, his voice raw with emotion as he shifted back to his human form, his clothes protected from tearing by Dad’s shifting gear. He looked exhausted, like the other members of the pack who had no choice but to shift back to their human forms after Lucien’s attack had sapped their strength. I was stunned by the sheer power of Lucien. The Blood Moon Pack was renowned as the strongest pack in the world, and yet Lucien had defeated them without even getting into a physical fight. They were all exhausted, and yet he hadn’t even injured them. I gazed at Lucien, trying to understand what he wanted from me. “I will come with you,” I said. “But not as your slave, but as your…” I hesitated, unsure of what he wanted from me. Was he after me because we were mates? Who would want to acknowledge their mate as a slave in front of her pack? “As my what?” he asked, his brows slightly knitted, his eyes trained on me. The truth was like a hard punch in my gut. He didn’t want me as a mate. Crystal’s voice echoed in my mind. “Mate,” she whispered. She wanted Lucien’s mark on her, to be claimed by him. I didn’t understand how she had the strength to dominate me. I pushed her back, determined to stand my ground. “You will not treat me like a slave,” I said, my voice steady. “I am the respected daughter of the Alpha, and I demand to be treated as such.” Everyone was silent, their gaze fixed on me. Lucien chuckled, his eyes flashing red. “I’m not negotiating, darling,” he pointed. “Things will happen as I see fit. You seem to be under the impression that I’m here to offer you a ticket to Hell.” As I stood before him, I couldn’t help but feel small and vulnerable. But I refused to back down, my self-respect was not something I would give up so easily. I stood my ground, even as my family and pack tried to call me back. Our eyes locked, and for a moment, it felt like the world around us faded away. I was aware of my heart beating loudly, my pulse racing with a mixture of fear and defiance. I unconsciously bit my lip. Lucien’s eyes traveled to my lip, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. With a steady voice, I declared, “I am not delusional. You will take me with proper respect, or you can take my dead body with you.” His eyes narrowed in amusement as he tilted his head as if studying a creature in a lab. The glint in his eyes told me he was not intimidated by my bold words, but I refused to let him know that I was scared. As if on cue, I heard Mom’s whimper from the back as the redness in Lucien’s eyes darkened. My fear heightened and my heart caught in my throat. I looked at Mom who seemed to be getting in worse condition with time. Oh Goddess, what do I do now? A warrior from his pack came forward, “You have a big mouth, talking to our Alpha like that. I can make good use of it.” He moved his hand forward and was about to touch me. I took a stance, ready to fight him off when I saw a gloved hand hold the man’s hand. I followed the trail of the hand until it settled on Lucien who was glaring at his pack warrior. The look he gave him seemed like he would kill him right this instant. “Did my orders include touching her?” he asked, his voice dangerously low, and raised a brow at the man. “N-no.” the man seemed terrified, trembling under his hold. “Then step away or else I’ll slice your dick into pieces,” he growled. “Y-yes Alpha.” the man stepped back and kept his head low. ***************************************************Thank you for reading this book. LUCIENI knew Dominic wouldn’t just wave the white flag and hand over his daughter to me. So when his pack challenged me, I wasn’t surprised. I felt an adrenaline rush spike through my arms to my fingertips as the wolves of his pack lunged at us. I summoned my power and focused it on my palms. The first wolf lunged forward, teeth bared, but I was ready. I sent a blast of telekinetic force toward the animal, throwing it back with ease. The look of hesitation on the other wolves caused a sly grin to form on my lips. I didn’t need to shift and use my pack men to fight against the Blood Moon Pack because they were nothing compared to what my pack was capable of. It was lucky for them that they didn’t enrage me to the point where I would shift.I raised my arm and summoned another burst of energy, sending a wave of force that knocked back several wolves at once. They yelped and growled, but I was relentless. I attacked again and again, using my powers to toss wolves left and right, never
EVANGELINETo my surprise, Lucien released Mom, but when he announced his intentions to come after me, I realized I was trapped in this deal. While I couldn’t fault my Dad for making the agreement, especially given the dire circumstances he faced at the time, I didn’t want my pack to suffer because of me.Just as Lucien was turning to walk away, I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and my heart skipped a beat when I realized it was my father. He was launching an attack on Lucien from behind, but he never made it as he froze in mid-lunge.“Dad!” I shouted, holding my mother in my arms. Her eyes were closed and her skin felt cold to the touch. I motioned to one of the warriors nearby, asking them to take her to one of the nearest rooms in the mansion to rest.Dad was trying to move, growling with bared teeth, and I realized that it was Asphalt who was trying to fight Lucien. However, no matter how hard he struggled, he seemed unable to move. Lucien simply stood there, his lack of
EVANGELINE Mia’s gaze shifted between her parents, her brow furrowing in confusion as she waited for their response. Getting nothing except a contemplating silence, she cleared her throat and finally spoke up, her voice laced with uncertainty. “So?” she asked, her eyes darting back and forth between her Uncle and Aunt. “I don’t like the proposal, but Marshmallow has a point. Potato can’t shift and the wolves can try bullying her. Though she’s capable of protecting herself, we can’t be too sure. It's better if she has someone with her.” Uncle Sky said, using the names he used to call us when we were kids. I was Potato and Mia was Marshmallow. It was an odd combination but Uncle Sky wasn’t Uncle Sky if he didn’t come up with odd names. “Then let me go with her,” Sean’s voice came from the back and we turned to look at him. He was also with us when we entered back home and probably heard the conversation. He looked at me, “The Alpha and Beta considered me worthy of the title of the
EVANGELINE The sound of growls, claws clashing, and the burning bitter smell of smoke rising from the flames around me consumed the forest in its fierce embrace. I watched as my dad’s wolf Asphalt fought ten wolves simultaneously. I could feel the heat of the fire blazing through the forest as a thick blanket of smoke crept between the trees, the smell of burning wood and ash stinging my nostrils. The burning flames that engulfed the area shone off of the wolf's fur, illuminating their movements as one of them bit onto Asphalt’s shoulder, sinking its canines deep into his flesh as blood bathed Dad’s black fur. I wanted to kill that wolf for hurting him, but my legs felt boneless against the ground I fell on a few seconds ago. My stomach churned in agony as the strength of my mother's spell slowly began to take its toll on both me and my wolf. I felt a wave of nausea crashing against the walls of my throat, sharp and intense like a venomous poison. It burned its way up relentlessly,
LUCIEN As I towered before my pack warriors, I lowered my index finger to the map laid on the table in front of us. My finger traced a circular shape around the area that the rogues had vanished from, my finger coming to tap three times on the spot. “These rogues have a portal, a transportation device that allows them to travel anywhere at will,” I explained, my voice stern and commanding. “Think of it as a larger version of Anywhere door.” One of my warriors furrowed their brow, “What’s an anywhere door?” they asked. I scowled in response, “You don’t watch anime? How can you not know what’s an Anywhere door?” my shock was quite visible on my otherwise stoic face. My men exchanged confused glances, “Well, we’re not sure what you’re talking about, Alpha..” they said hesitantly. With a bored sigh, I looked at them sternly. “I can’t believe I have fucking pack members who don’t watch anime,” I spat. “Here’s your assignment: before we meet again to discuss our plan, watch twenty e
LUCIENMy eyes were fixed on the three unexpected guests who had somehow infiltrated the passage of our transport and were now seated on the cool dark marble floor of the foyer of my pack house. “How the fuck did you three come here?” it was impossible for anyone to enter our pack house without the required knowledge to access the hidden passage leading to the Hollow Hills. They couldn’t have done it unless—-my gaze shifted to Caleb whose eyes widened and he shook his head. His words came out in a stutter as he lifted a shaky finger to point at his footwear, “I-I… she was holding onto my leg just before we teleported.” “It was a piece of cake,” the brunette spoke with confidence. “I just acted as if I had given up on the fight, and then grabbed onto his leg as he teleported. I happen to know how you demonic wolves can transport, so I utilized some of my own powers to shield Sean, David, and myself before we made the leap.” She looked over at Caleb, a smug smile playing on her lips.
LUCIEN Evangeline’s lips curled as she snarled at me, “You think we are scared of your lousy pack?” I noticed the tiny black dot on her moving chin; a beauty mark. It wasn’t visible until one was close enough. I chuckled, “Yes, you should be,” I declared, my voice crisp and dauntingly deep, “Once you step foot in the lion’s den, there is only one expected outcome.” My strides were purposeful as I moved closer until I was hovering just beside her. In a voice just above a whisper, I uttered, “The lion will consume you.” She narrowed her eyes as she glared back at me, her body tense beneath mine. Her pulse raced under the veil of her milky skin and my proximity to her body caused a foreign electric sensation to charge every breath I took. It had taken everything in me to not grab her by her waist and taste those inviting lips. “If you are so bold in your words, then prove your bravery and fight us hand-to-hand like a true wolf. " Sean, the blonde-haired warrior, challenged. I met h
EVANGELINEI slowly opened my eyes and groaned in pain as a searing sensation shot through my right shoulder and up my neck. I winced, and as I looked to my left, I found Mia's brown hair sprawled out on the mattress. I quickly realized this was not my bedroom, as the bed sheet was an unfamiliar sad pale white color, not the bright pastel pink. My eyes darted around the room frantically, my heart racing as I took in the sight of the gloomy stone walls that surrounded me. I could feel the trauma of the night before that day, the memory of Lucien kidnapping me as the Emerald Gem Pack attacked us playing back in my mind. Massaging my forehead with the tips of my fingers, I let the reality of the situation settle into my memory. I may not have known much, but one thing was certain: we had to get out of this place as soon as possible. Before I had a chance to think ahead, a loud bang resounded from the door, startling Mia awake. Her tousled hair fell over her face, her expression one of
