109. Goosebumps

As I walked into Damon's office, my heart was pounding with anxiety. I had to know the truth about Becca's death. The room was dimly lit, but I could see Damon sitting at his desk, looking down at some papers. I approached him, trying to calm myself.

"Damon," I said, my voice shaking. "I need to talk to you about Becca."

He looked up at me, his eyes sad. "I know," he said. "I was hoping you wouldn't come here. It's not going to be easy for you to hear."

"Just tell me," I said, my voice growing louder. "What happened to her?"

Damon took a deep breath. "She was shot," he said. "While she was playing in the garden. I was there too, but I couldn't save her."

I felt my knees buckle underneath me and I had to grip the edge of the table to keep myself upright. "Shot?" I repeated my voice barely above a whisper. "Who would do something like that?"

"We don't know yet," Damon said. "The police are investigating, but so far, they don't have any leads."
