126. The Confrontation

Elysia's pov

I dialled Damon's number with shaky fingers, unsure of what I was going to say. My ankle throbbed in pain as I waited for him to pick up.

"Hey, Elysia, what's up?" Damon's voice sounded calm and collected, but I knew better than to be fooled by his façade.

"I'm about to get discharged from the hospital," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "I was wondering if you could come back."

"Of course, I'll be there in a few minutes," Damon replied.

As I hung up the phone, my thoughts raced. I still couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about Damon's behaviour lately. I couldn't trust him, not completely.

But then a nagging voice in my head told me to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he had a good reason for transferring ownership of my company and my father's company to his name.

When Damon arrived at the hospital, I put on a brave face, pretending that everything was fine. I didn't want him to know that I was still struggling to trust him.
