16. AFTER-PARTY

As we rode back to Malcolm's home, there was this different kind of tension in the air compared to when we first rode to the party earlier. The mood had surely shifted and I wasn't able to tell if he was mad at me or not. I was pretty certain that I hadn't done anything wrong just because I danced with someone at the party; someone who just so happened to be related to him. If anything, I'm the one who should be upset, seeing as he didn't inform me that his cousin was going to be at this event...or that he would be so sexy and charismatic.

He didn't seem upset, judging from the look on his face but, he wasn't saying anything and he was barely looking at me. I was starting to hate it, and against my better judgement, I decided to say something about it.

"The party was quite good. It was exactly what I expected but I still had a good time, and you got yourself a new partner as well. Margaret was..," I wasn't sure how to describe her so I just said, "...quite the character. I see why you
