I saw his Beta come in holding two envelopes came in, Vernon let go of me immediately upon hearing Terry's name. He turned to face his Beta, I couldn't see his expression, but I could hear him sneering.

When his Beta walked closer, I could see that one of the envelopes had my name on it. But Vernon quickly blocked my line of sight, he turned around to face me again.

"I'll go handle this. You can stay here or feel free to use any of the rooms I just showed you. If you need anything, just ask the maid. Okay?"

I nodded but I kept thinking about the letter. My gaze never left the letter. He took them from his Beta, and he was walking out of the door.

"Vernon..." I couldn't help but call out to him once I saw he reached the door. I wanted to see the letter.

"What?"

He looked back but didn't turn around, I could see the coldness in his eyes. I suddenly lost the courage to ask him for the letter. So I shook my head.

"Nothing."

He stopped for a minute and left without looking back. I
