I was in my office, engrossed in pack matters with Clark. I just had a meeting with the Council of Treasury and like the previous meetings I had with them, I felt I aged up ten times because of it. The team was always a pain in the butt, and I am glad Clark was beside me to assist with things.
All of a sudden, a strange feeling tightened my heart. I felt unsettled under my skin and I couldn't help but hold my chest. My wolf inside me nudged my thoughts, like a silent idea that our mate might be in trouble. Clark noticed I was uneasy and leaned in, his eyebrows showing worry. "Sean, something bothering you?" he asked.
I paused, my eyes quickly looking at the window as I said quietly, "Can't really figure it out, but it's like there's something... off around Mallory." My words felt unsure, much like the feeling itself.
We shared a look that showed we both understood. We went to her room, silently praying that she was there and everything is good.
MalloryJust as hope surged through me, a burning timber blocked our escape. Holding the child close, I whispered a desperate prayer for safety. Then, like a guardian angel, Sean burst into the fiery scene. His determined stride cut through the chaos. Relief washed over me as his strong arms enveloped us, lifting us away from the danger. We stumbled out of the burning house, gasping for air, our hearts pounding in sync with the crackling flames behind us.As soon as we were out of harm’s way, the child's mother clung to her little one. The boy hugged his mother back, never wanting to let go. The mother turned to Sean and whispered, “Thank you, Alpha. Thank you for saving my son.”But Sean shook his head. “I could have not made it in time. Thanked Mallory, instead. She was the one who protected your child until I came.A murmur of uncertainty rippled through the pack members, as if they heard an utmost lie. They hadn't
Mallory"Thief! Get her!"I ran as fast as I could through the crowded street, with the owner of the bread store and his assistant closely chasing behind. Their shouts echoed throughout the busy avenue, drawing attention from the shoppers and bystanders around us. Disgust was evident in their eyes.I bit my lower lip as I continued to run, tears streaming down my cheeks. I tried my best not to be distracted by them. I needed to run as fast as I could, or those two judgmental pricks would catch up to me."Please, I didn't steal anything," I uttered in between sobs, hoping that someone would hear and believe me as I kept running. I couldn't help but blame myself for the unfortunate situation. If only I hadn't attempted to sneak into that restaurant to scavenge for leftovers, the owner wouldn't have noticed me and falsely accused me of taking one of their customers' rings. It was a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's funny how life works sometimes. My name is Mallo
MalloryI found myself at an extraordinary outdoor party one night, and it was like nothing I had ever seen before. Surprisingly, it wasn't held in a fancy rented place or someone's backyard, but right in the middle of a park. What are the odds?I hid behind a tree, carefully watching the people around me. I wasn't quite sure what the party was all about, but it seemed like everyone was meeting each other for the first time. Maybe it was one of those events where people go on dates without knowing who they'll meet. A blind date event, perhaps? As I looked around, I noticed that everyone was caught up in the moment. They were kissing and hugging each other without a care in the world. It seemed like they were all supportive of each other or just didn't really mind what was happening. It was clear that these people had come here to meet someone new and have a good time. But for me, I had a different agenda. I was here for one reason and one reason only: to eat!As I continued to spy aro
Sean"I hereby call to order the official meeting of the City Legion's board of leaders."Everyone in the room became attentive as the assembly began with my opening statement. All eyes were on me as I addressed the members."We have received a timely notice, which is to be filed with the minutes of this meeting. Lizzie, do we have enough members present for a quorum?" I asked my secretary.Lizzie approached me and handed over a folder containing today's agenda. I noticed that everyone already had their copies before I arrived. While I read through the details, Lizzie started calling out the names of the board members. As the youngest member of the board at 35, it was interesting to be among these highly experienced alphas. But I got used to it, eventually, and became comfortable with my role as their leader.I am Sean Ascott, alpha of the Silverpaw Pack, and head of the City Legion, a unified group of werewolf packs blending in the human cities throughout the continent. Mallory"Please look after the children, Cindy." I glanced at Lily and Robbie playing in a room with other kids before giving a smile to the social worker I've known since I was young.Cindy held my hand and reassured me, saying, "Don't worry. They'll be safer here than on the streets."“I know,” I said while nodding. I took a deep breath as the social worker informed me of the challenges that children face in their search for a permanent home.“I will update you about what’s gonna happen as soon as I got something. Can I have your number?”“Ahmm…I don’t have a cellphone,” I stated honestly. Cindy seemed to understand my situation and asked for another information. “How about your address?”“I…I…” My throat struggled to find words as my body tensed to the topic. I plastered a faint smile before continuing. “I have none.”“Oh, Mallory. Are you sure you’re okay?” I saw worry etched on Cindy’s face. “Where are you staying now? How are you supporting yourself—”"Cindy, I'm okay," I assure
SeanI felt my heart pounding in my chest as I stared at the motionless figure on the hospital bed. I desperately wanted her to open her eyes and assure me that she was okay. But fate had been unkind, and I felt helpless seeing my mate in that state.Everything about this day felt like a nightmare. The scent of herbs and medicine filled the air, a constant reminder of the medical care we continued to give her.I approached the doctor, hoping he had the answers I needed. "Why isn't she waking up?" I asked, my voice filled with concern. "Is there something wrong? Will she be alright?"The doctor, a calm and composed middle-aged man with kind eyes, placed a comforting smile on his face. "I understand your worries, Alpha, but please try to remain calm. Your mate's condition is stable. Sometimes, it just takes time for a human to regain consciousness after a traumatic event. We will continue to monitor her closely. But for now, let her body adjust at its own pace.”Remembering her ordeal
KristaMy steps echoed loudly in the hallway. I rushed to find my alpha father, needing answers fast!"Good morning, Lady Krista," the omega maid greeted politely, bowing her head and making way for me."Get out of my way!" I barked, shoving her aside roughly. But instead of silence, she spoke softly, irritating me more."I'm sorry, Lady Krista,” she whispered submissively. Her apology annoyed me even more. I turned, my eyes flashing with anger. "Did you actually speak with me without my permission?" I sneered, and my hand met her cheek with a sharp slap.Tears welled up in her eyes as she whimpered, "Please, Lady Krista, I didn't mean to upset you.""Didn’t mean to upset me? Huh! Who gave you the right to talk to me? You are nothing but a slave born to serve me and those within my ranks!” The omega shuddered at the sound of my voice."Guards!" I called out, and one appeared immediately. "Take her to the dungeon and teach her a lesson for crossing me.""No, please, have mercy! I won't
MalloryI woke up feeling disoriented, my mind was all foggy as I tried to piece together what happened before I blacked out. Hooded figures attacking me, that's the last thing I remember. Am I dead?I got up and found myself in a cozy bed inside a clean room. A woman, looking like a maid, came up to me with a warm greeting. "Good morning, madam," she said, bowing her head.Madam? Did she just call me that? I looked around, checking if there was someone else she might be talking to. But no, it was just me. So, I pointed at myself and asked, "Are you talking to me?""Yes, madam. Do you need anything? Are you hungry?" the maid inquired. I was still confused but managed to respond, "A cup of coffee will do.""Right away, madam," she said, surprisingly kind, which made me feel even more convinced that I must be in paradise for sure. The maid handed me the coffee, and as soon as I took a sip, my stomach growled."Are you sure you don't want to eat?" she asked again. "There are some pancake
