Opening the purse I hadn't dropped despite the last hours of insanity, I whipped out my phone, set it to roaming and dialed my dad’s line. It only took about three rings and mum’s voice came on.

“You silly child, where are you?”

“Hi mum, I’m in Tartu. I need to ask you and dad something important-”

“Tartu?” Her shock was palpable. “How did you get there? Come home, right now! That place is not where you should ever get to!” And she hung up on me. Again.

“Well?” Vladimir drawled. I was starting to hate the self assured way he spoke.

“There was a connection problem. I will speak with them later. Please leave me alone now.” I refused to tell him that my mother kept hanging up on me.
