Chapter Thirty-one

"So, Jason, Aiden tells me you work for him," Janet said, breaking the silence. "What do you do?"

"I'm his right-hand man," Jason replied, his voice low and measured. "I handle a lot of his business affairs."

"That must be quite demanding," Janet said, impressed.

"It has its challenges," Jason said, taking a sip of his wine. "But I enjoy the work."

Chloe could sense the tension between them, and she decided to take matters into her own hands. "Janet, I'm curious. What did you think Jason in the first place?" she asked, hoping to get the conversation flowing.

Janet blushed, and Chloe could tell she was nervous. "Well, he just seemed so...mysterious," Janet said. "And he's always so quiet, like he's hiding something."

Chloe noticed Jason's eyebrows raise at Janet's comment, and she could feel the energy between them shifting.
