Fifteen – Hungover Burrito

The first thing she became aware of was the pounding headache, followed shortly by her burning nose and throat and then nausea.  And that was when she realized that she was wrapped up tightly.

She kept her eyes closed and tried to keep her breathing steady in a bid to figure out where she was.  It felt like she was lying on a bed and she could hear the faint movements of someone in the room.  She was terrified of opening her eyes, to be honest.

Next thing she knew the bed dipped and her hair was gently pushed away from her face.  “Hey, Cookie.  You’re okay, little sis.  We found you just in time.”  It was as if he had sensed her waking up and was trying to soothe the stress her body was under; she supposed he had scented the adrenaline and fear coming from her and probably heard her heartrate increase as well.

Her relief to be away from that wolf that scared her was matched by her annoyance
