Le Petit Chaperon Rouge

‘There it is again’

The Patrol froze all their senses directed at the flash of color moving through the trees, the Leader lifted his head and tried to pick out a scent. He pricked his ears and listened,

‘Like the sun through the trees you came to love me.

Like a leaf on a breeze, you blew away.’

The voice was beautiful, carrying through the woods it wrapped around the Patrol and held them spellbound,

‘A gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes,

As if to hide a lonely tear,

My life will be forever Autumn,

‘Cause you’re not here.’

They moved silently through the dense undergrowth and watched, in the clearing up ahead she twirled as she sang, her arms held out as if worshipping the sun.

‘Cause you’re not here

Cause you’re not here

Cause you’re not here.’

Rouge Chaperon sank to her knees and cried softly,

‘You were never here Pierre Castille, everything about you was a lie’

She picked up the basket she had been carrying and strode angrily to her grandmother's cott
