Chapter Twenty One

She thought and then slumped as she answered her own question,

‘The Russians,’

They had warned her but she had not listened, she had been told not to be outside on her own, to stay in a group of people. She had told Mac she wanted a minute alone with her parents and he had let her and then the realization hit her hard,

‘Mac would never leave her alone like that, he had nagged her and nagged her about her safety, warning her she could not be too careful.’

Closing her eyes she leaned her head back and a single tear ran down her cheek as she remembered the sadness in Mac’s eyes as he had agreed to what she asked,

‘He betrayed me’

She thought as another tear chased the first down her cheek,

‘Oh Mac, Why? My Father would be so disappointed in you. He trusted you to protect me.’

The van bumped sharply to the right sending her crashing to the floor and she took a deep breath to slow down her panicked breathing, calming herself down.

Panicking right now would not help her, Mac had taught her
