I sat upright on the bed again and gawked at him. “Excuse me?”

“You’re a selfish person,” he mumbled from under the pillow.

I scoffed. “What would make you say such a thing?”

He counted on his fingers as he listed his reasons. “You asked me to leave Whitney to be with you, you-”

I snatched the pillow from above his head and snapped at him. “Look at me as you say these things.”

“I really don’t want to…” He shook his head gently, still lying face-down on the bed.

“Isaac Andrew Taylor, you look me in the eye!”

He exhaled and turned so that he was on his side, propped up on his forearm as he looked at me. “Happy?”
