Chapter 53

On the way to see the pack doctor, I started to worry about my parents. Mostly I wondered why I hadn’t paid closer attention to the fact that something was seriously wrong with them. I had just assumed that they were turning into lousy parents due to not getting things their way.

When we reached the medical wing of the packhouse, I was thankful to run right into Kate as she came out of another room. She gave me her usual friendly smile as she walked towards us. Meeting halfway, I quickly explained what was going on and what Archer had mentioned about what was possibly wrong with them.

“Oh, that isn’t good at all.” Kate showed concern as she looked at my parents.

So far, my parents had both seemed to comply with getting them here, until suddenly my father just walked away without a word. I attempted to stop him, but Kate grabbed my arm. When I looked at her, she had her attention on my mother.
