42. Break in Party

Delilah is quiet during the car ride to her apartment. She leaned back on the seat and closed her eyes.

"I apologize for my uncle's behavior," I said after a while.

"He is not the worst I encountered in your family," Delilah remarked. "He is nothing compared to the devil you are. The apple didn't fall too far from the tree."

I chuckled. "I guess not." I absentmindedly twirled a lock of her hair on my finger. Delilah flinched as my fingers brushed against her neck, but she didn't tell me to stop.

"It's no surprise that you turned out to be a monster. It runs in the family, and I am starting to get used to it," she sneered. I guess she expected me to get angry, but I laughed even louder.

"I love that smart mouth of yours," I lean closer.

She goes stiff as I stop playing with her hair and run my fingers down her arm. I know my touches still awakened the desire in her even though she undoubtedly hated my guts now.
